Goodnewspaper: The Water Edition
We’re so excited to announce October’s issue of the Goodnewspaper: The Water Edition!
Water is the most connective element on the planet. We all need water. We’re all made of water. The earth is mostly water. And water is something many of us take for granted.
Billions of people around the world lack access to safe drinking water and/or sanitation — in “developed” countries like the U.S., too. The climate crisis is leading to extreme weather events that devastate communities, warming oceans that kill marine ecosystems, and disrupted farming cycles, soil health, and food production.
As always, there’s good news: there are helpers using water to make a difference.
In this issue, you’ll read about:
💦 Indigenous activists protecting water and water systems in the U.S.
💦 Kids bringing safe, clean water to people around the world through @charity.water.
💦 People working on solutions to some of the largest water-related issues like toilets and sanitation, the climate refugee crisis, and agriculture and soil health.
❄️ And even a story about frozen water! 😉
This issue is also filled with ways we can all make a difference with and for water. And perhaps, the next time you’re drinking a big cup of water, you’ll think of one of these stories and feel a bit more hopeful.
