Goodnewspaper: The 2023 Pride Edition

This annual edition of the Goodnewspaper is our biggest celebration yet — and we needed it. Amidst a landscape of terrifying homophobic and transphobic legislation, and new hateful interactions in our communities every day — nobody could fault you for thinking we haven’t made any progress at all. But we have, we are making it today, and we will continue to into the future.

This issue tells all those stories of hope and progress that are so worth our attention and celebration, like:

📸 A photographer that takes gender-affirming photos for queer folks;

🏳️‍⚧️ The impact of Finland’s new gender recognition law on the whole world;

👑 A full page of hopeful headlines about drag queens;

🌳 A community’s support of a gay couple that was kicked out of a park for kissing;

🏳️‍🌈 The leading LGBTQ+ voices helping push the fight for equal rights further;

👏 And so, so much more!

We hope this issue reminds you that despite the ever-growing threat of hatred and bigotry in our law-making systems, there are so many more people doing good for the LGBTQ+ community and fighting against these injustices.

The riots at Stonewall Inn more than five decades ago opened a floodgate of activism and action to fight for queer liberation that will never close again — period. No matter how much hate or ignorance comes our way, the love and strength within the LGBTQ+ community will always come out on top.
