Goodnewspaper: The Helpers Edition

Many have been forever changed and inspired by this quote from Fred Rogers of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers,'” he famously said*, “'You will always find people who are helping.’”*

Helpers aren’t necessarily heroes, but courageous community members — our neighbors and friends — who make every day a little easier, who fight back against harmful systems, who hold each other tight when all there’s left to do is be together.

Every year, our team of expert journalists profiles the Helpers of the Year in The Helpers Edition. Each page also includes resources and tips to help you get involved in the issues you care most about, so you can be a Helper, too.
