Goodnewspaper: The Courage Edition
Today, we’re excited to share the newest issue of the Goodnewspaper: The Courage Edition!
Most of us have at least one person in our lives we’d describe as courageous — and chances are, they probably aren’t knights in shining armor. They might be known to seek adventure or have a list of absurd feats they want to accomplish, but most of the valiant people we know and love have the same simple thing in common: They have come face-to-face with adversity, and instead of turning away, forged ahead.
That’s what we define as courage: The conscious choice to face adversity despite fear, uncertainty, and vulnerability. The deliberate, calculated endurance required to repeatedly take on risk. The commitment of showing up scared.
And amid global crises, abuses of power, and the requirement of being vulnerable as we awake to this confusing, scary world every day — we could all use a little more courage.
That’s what this issue of the Goodnewspaper celebrates and nourishes.
Here’s some good stuff you’ll find in The Courage Edition:
🚒 How a burn survivor became a firefighter to advocate for kids like him
🧠 A 101-explainer on how your brain operates when you’re being brave
❤️🩹 Profiles on the heroes and humanitarians who show up to make a difference in the most dangerous conflict zones
🎉 Brad Montague’s invitation to bravely celebrate your biggest failures
🌟 And so, so much more!
As Brené Brown says: Courage is contagious. When reading this edition of the Goodnewsper, you’ll find that you’re not intimidated by the fearlessness of others, but in fact, inspired by how we all contain the same imperfect, heart-pounding ability to be scared and strong all at once.
You may even realize that when others imagine what it looks like to be brave, the person that comes to mind might just be you.
