Introducing the latest (and our first collaboration!) issue of the Goodnewspaper: The Intersectional Environmentalist Edition.

Founded by Leah Thomas, Intersectional Environmentalist (IE) is a community of thousands of thoughtful people sharing one dream: to make the world more equitable for both people and the planet. Good Good Good cares about all of those things too — and sharing the stories of the people, ideas, and organizations doing good for people and the planet.

Created and coined by researcher Kimberlé Crenshaw in 1989, intersectionality is “a lens through which you can see where power comes and collides, where it interlocks and intersects.” Essentially, intersectionality is where identities overlap. For example, a Black woman has experiences both as being Black and as being a woman that overlap and define their experiences as whole people.

And after we read Leah’s new book (available March 8!), “The Intersectional Environmentalist: How to Dismantle Systems of Oppression to Protect People and Planet,” we knew we wanted to make an issue of the Goodnewspaper that featured the incredible ideas she presented.

We loved partnering with Leah and IE to fill this issue with stories of leaders fighting for environmental justice, the incredible organizations working to make the outdoors more inclusive, and so much more.
